CatchDo

Locally grown notes

Grown on your iPhone, not on a server farm.

A market stall has no warehouse out back, and neither does CatchDo. What you catch is transcribed, read, and sorted by the AI on your phone, and it stays there. Your notes were never ours to keep, sell, or lose.

The cat catches it, the duck thinks it over, and the dog makes the list. None of them ever leaves your phone.

Know your grower

We don't own your notes.
We never even hold them.

There's no CatchDo account, and no CatchDo server for what you catch. We make the tools, and what you grow with them is yours: keep it to yourself, or take it to another app or a research assistant and bring the answers home.

  • Can CatchDo read my notes?

    No.

They're read by the AI on your phone, and never sent to us.

  • Do you train AI on them?

    No.

We can't train on what we never receive.

  • Could you be made to hand them over?

    No.

We don't have them, so there's nothing to hand over.

  • Could a breach of your servers expose them?

    No.

No server of ours holds them.

  • Do you sell them, or use them for ads?

    No.

No ads, no selling or sharing your data, and no tracking you across other apps.

  • What if CatchDo closed down?

    They stay.

Your notes live on your phone, and in your own iCloud if you sync, so they don't go anywhere with us.

Food miles, for notes

The farther a note travels, the more hands it passes through.

Many AI note apps upload what you record so their servers can transcribe and summarize it, often with another company's AI, and then keep it. Every stop on that trip is one more place a note can be leaked, read, or kept longer than you meant.

Our competitors

The server-farm route

How a note can travel when an app does its work in the cloud.

  1. Uploaded Your recording, photos, and words leave your phone for the app's servers.
  2. Handed on Often to another company's AI, to be transcribed and summarized: one more copy, under one more policy.
  3. Stored Kept in a database with everyone else's notes, which makes it worth breaking into.
  4. Backed up Copied into backups and logs that deleting a note in the app may never reach.
  5. Looked at Open to whoever has access: staff and contractors, a court order, or an intruder.
  6. Trained on Used to improve their AI if the terms allow it, and terms can change after you sign up.
  7. Sold or shut down If the company is bought, your notes change hands with it. If it closes, they can go with it.

CatchDo

The local route

How a note travels in CatchDo.

  1. Your iPhone Caught, transcribed, read over, and sorted by the AI on your phone, and kept there.
  2. Your own iCloud If you sync, a copy goes to your private iCloud for your other devices. We can't read it.
  3. Out and back, when you choose Share a note to another app, or send a research brief to ChatGPT, Claude, or Google. You start it, you choose what goes, and you bring the answer back.

Every step is your call.

Plenty of cloud apps guard their servers well. But a note that never reaches a server doesn't need guarding.

The honesty box

Everything that does leave your phone.

Farm stands run on trust, so here's the whole list, chalked up: what CatchDo sends, where it goes, and when.

What leaves, and when

To your own iCloud

A synced copy of your notes
For your other devices, in your private iCloud. We can't read it. Turn sync off in Settings.

Only when you start it

A research brief
To Google, ChatGPT, or Claude, after you've read it word for word. You bring the answer back.
An action card's search
A short phrase, to the app the card opens, like Maps or YouTube (Premium).
A web page you attach
Its address, to its own site, so your phone can read the page. Turn it off in Settings.
Anything you share
To the app, calendar, or to-do app you pick.
A feedback report
To us: what you write, a little about your phone and the app, and a screenshot only if you add one.

With none of your notes in it

AI models
Downloaded once, from Hugging Face or from Apple.
Places nearby
Apple Maps is asked what's around a spot, if you use Places.
Your Premium status
Checked with RevenueCat, by your App Store receipt and a random ID.
Usage counts and crash reports
Anonymous, through Google's Firebase. Turn them off on any plan; in the EEA and the UK they start off.
